To be honest, my head is spinning right now.
There’s a LOT going on and sometimes it can be a little overwhelming.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not looking for an ounce of sympathy.
I’m sharing this with you because I know you can relate. We all have periods in our life when we feel this way. Maybe you’re feeling this way now, too.
In actuality, my overwhelm isn’t coming so much from what’s going on (the biggest disruptors being trying to sell our current house and all the meetings/decisions for the new house), but more so from what I want to ADD…
It’s that time of year where I really start thinking about my goals for next year, and truth be told, there’s a part of me that wants to avoid setting/committing to new/bigger goals because of the overwhelm.
Do you feel me?
But here’s some interesting reality:
Setting those goals and getting clear on why they’re important to me will actually decrease the overwhelm and shift the feeling to excitement, which leads to taking action to achieve and enjoy those goals. 🙂
That’s the funny thing – it’s the period between current day-to-day living and setting goals that create the overwhelm…
So, we procrastinate on setting goals because we’re overwhelmed, but setting meaningful goals will ultimately eliminate the overwhelm we’re suffering from. ;-b
Here’s one point to make clear though:
SETTING GOALS DOESN’T ELIMINATE FEAR.
In fact, a good goal, one that’s truly worthy of you (not “you of it” – different conversation) will both EXCITE you and SCARE you at the same time!
You’re excited because you’re moving towards a bigger/better future…
You’re scared because you’re doing something you’ve never done before and there’s an unknown element…
Well, to wrap up, I’m now really looking forward to getting these goals out of my head and down on paper. Some of them are pretty damn scary…and oh so exciting!
I hope this inspires you to take some time to really explore your life vision and set some lofty goals for 2018. As always, if there’s any way that I can help you, please let me know.
Oh, and if you’ve already got a goal that you’re really excited (and a bit scared) about, I’d love for you to reply and tell me about it. 🙂
HAVE FAITH & TAKE ACTION!
