Repeats Are Awesome

When I go on these “excursions” of personal/business reflection/development I like to “disconnect” as much as possible to stay totally focused on what I’m doing – working on getting better for myself, my family, my employees, my clients, my readers…
When I do that, I come back fresh, excited and even more ready to full our mission – to educate, motivate, and inspire you to become the BEST version of YOU!
Yesterday, I spent the day at my Strategic Coach workshop…
And, I’ll tell you, at first I was a little…shall we say, less than excited.
For one, as I mentioned yesterday, it was the first meeting that Janell is not a part of, and I wasn’t attending my normal group or with my normal coach.  When she dropped me off it felt like being dropped off for the first day of school…a new school.
Then, as I looked at the lesson list for the day and the binder, I immediately noticed that one of the big topics we were covering was a repeat from a previous workshop…
“GRRRR!  I just re-upped for this far-from-inexpensive program and we’re doing a repeat lesson!!”
Well, let me tell you something, it didn’t take long to realize just how much I needed to repeat this particular lesson and how valuable it was…
There was some really good stuff in there that I’ll be taking back to my TEAM!
The funny thing is, that stuff was there before, BUT I’m in a much different place now, SO my perspective is much different…
The information didn’t change, but I had!  That made the lesson totally different this time around.  🙂
At the same time, it also reinforced just how far things have come over the past couple of years!!
It’s so easy to be so focused on getting to the “next level” that we forget all the levels we’ve surpassed…
Ever do that with your fitness journey?  😉
Another interesting fact (I don’t know how they measure this stuff) is that we will pretty much forget about ⅔ of what we learn within 24 hours  – we get back to our normal routine (back on the hamster wheel of life for many…) and we don’t apply the lessons.  Within 30 days, 90-100% of what we learned is forgotten!
That’s why it’s so important to take time to review important lessons and find ways to apply them to your life ASAP.
I encourage you to look for some repeat opportunities in your life…
Re-read a book – The Transformation Book is a really good one to read multiple times.  😉
Re-attend a workshop.
Re-participate in a program.
I promise, it will be well worth your time, and I can pretty much guarantee that you’ll get something “new” out of it.
When you do, I’d love to hear about it.  Please email me back and share your experience.  🙂

P.S. – Another great way to learn something at a deeper level is to teach it.  That’s actually what I’m going to be doing today – I’ll be teaching the lessons I learned yesterday to Janell.  That will also help me reinforce the information in my brain and help prevent me from forgetting it.
Is there a valuable lesson that you want to reinforce in your life that you can teach to someone who would appreciate the knowledge?
