Yesterday, I laid the groundwork for writing out your vision for the next 5 – 10 years. Now, let’s talk about making that a reality by pulling back to things you can do now…
First, in order for you to make that 5 – 10 year vision a reality, you’re going to need to build up your capabilities over the next 1 – 5 years.
By that, I mean learn new skills and develop new habits that are in alignment with your vision.
For example, let’s say Mrs. Jones wants to be living a healthy and vibrant life 5 – 10 years from now. She wants to be off her various medications (BP, cholesterol, etc.) and have tons of energy to keep up with the grandkids she hopes to have in that time frame. 🙂
Well, then over the next 1 – 5 years she’s going to need to make sure she gets daily movement for at least 20 – 30 minutes per day and participate in a strength-training program at least 2 – 3 times per week. She’s also going to dedicate time to learning to cook healthier foods – maybe even take some cooking lessons!
So, the next thing for you to do is list out all the capabilities you think you’re going to need to develop to achieve your vision…
By the way, this works for all aspects of your life…not just fitness.
For example, if part of your vision is to have a healthy relationship with your spouse where you really enjoy spending time together and feel closer and more connected than ever … what are some things you can focus on during the next 1 – 5 years to ensure that vision is a reality?
Maybe go on some vacations together, have 1 – 2 weekends per month dedicated to just the two of you spending quality time together, find a passion or hobby that you both enjoy doing together, etc.
Alrighty then, now let’s bring this to the present…
What can you do now and over the next 12 months that will really set your vision in motion?
Think of things that will really have a multiplier effect.
Let’s go back to Mrs. Jones…
Pardon the self-serving promo here, but one thing she could do NOW is register for our 4-week Trial Program…and upon completion continue on as a regular member of The Transformation Club.
If we go back to the relationship example, right NOW you can schedule a date night…then you can make that a weekly or monthly habit. 🙂
By the way, date night is not out to dinner with each of you on your phones!
It’s all pretty simple when you look at it, right?
But, how many of us just go through the motions and 5 – 10 years later wonder, “How did I end up here?”
It all starts with having a clear vision…
If you need help working through any of the three steps let me know. I’d be delighted to coach you through it! 🙂
HAVE FAITH & TAKE ACTION!
