We all have doubts.
Sometimes they can be crippling if we let them.
And, at least in my experience, it’s not that those who succeed have doubts…
…it’s that they don’t give in to them.
I certainly had doubts with every big decision or next step. Heck, just reflecting over the last 10 years of being in business, there were doubts getting started with my bootcamp in the park, signing my first lease, and expanding into our current location. And, as we look forward to the next 10 years, there are doubts…
But what I’ve noticed about these doubts is that they’re a lot like paying interest on a debt you don’t have.
Our doubts are often based on one of two things:
- The thoughts others (who have never done what we are trying to do) are placing in our heads
- Worst case scenarios about what could possibly happen – but almost never will. Chances of you living in a van down by the river are pretty slim. ;-b
Knowing this, you’ve got to fight those doubts…because they’re not real.
They’re anchors dragging you down and consuming your mental and emotional energy…while not allowing you to move forward.
Sure, be a realist…but don’t be a pessimist.
For every reason you could have doubts, there is at least one reason you should have unwavering belief.
Look back into your past at things you’ve accomplished so far…
Those successes weren’t by accident or a fluke.
YOU made them happen!
There were traits and skills that allowed you to succeed.
Employ those same traits and skills to succeed again.
See, we don’t usually spend much time on that sort of reflection – looking back at factual things that happened and how WE made them happen.
But it’s powerful.
It’s powerful because it’s real…not imagined.
So, when those doubts start creeping in, see them for what they actually are…not some magnified nightmare.
Then, reflect on your own resume of success and use the evidence it gives you to propel you to where you want to go.
HAVE FAITH & TAKE ACTION!
