A Couple More Travel Tips

Yesterday, I shared 3 Travel Tips to Stay ON.

Since I’m traveling again, I thought I’d share a couple more.

This time I’m in Chicago, which means I have access to Whole Foods.  🙂

Even though I got in late last night due to delays and then traffic, after I checked in I headed straight to Whole Foods.  It was only about a half mile away so I walked because I needed to MOVE.

I hit the grocery store on these trips primarily to get food for breakfast.  Starting the day off right is critical and most complimentary hotel breakfasts don’t cut it.  I’m actually staying at a hotel that has a restaurant on this trip, but I’d still rather have breakfast in the room (while writing this blog post) and not pay $30 for an omelet. ;-b

Breakfast for me is:

  • Green juice (Evolution Fresh Organic Essential Green) with 5 scoops of Eniva 100% Whey Protein Isolate
  • Banana with almond butter (Artisana Organics)
  • If I strength train, Gluten Free Oatmeal (Qia Superfood)

At Whole Foods, I also pick up some kombucha (Synergy) to drink during my event when I’m not drinking my Vibe and Cold & Flu Buster.  Janell’s a little jealous reading this right now because I got the Divine Grape flavor which they don’t sell in Minnesota.  ;-b

I typically don’t buy any bars because I bring them from home, but my afternoon snack is usually an RxBar and 3-4 scoops of protein (tastes good mixed with the Cold & Flu Buster – orange).

Lunch and dinner, I’ll eat out with my peeps here.  It’s good bonding time.

Oh, and for lunch, I eat really clean.  I can’t have that post-lunch slump! I might “splurge” a little for dinner on occasion, but I’ll definitely keep the sugar intake in check because it messes with my sleep.

The other tip I want to share is to get up and MOVE.

There’s going to be a LOT of sitting over the next few days.  Personally, that wreaks havoc on my back and it also makes me tired.

Add some walking to your morning workout (or as your workout depending on the day).  Get up and move around as often as you can during your conference/meetings. Then, at the end of the day, if there’s time, go for another walk before dinner – ideally, walk to dinner and back.

Alright, hopefully, that was helpful.  I’m going to eat my banana and almond butter now. 🙂
