44 Today

Well, today’s my 44th birthday…

I’m actually not really big on birthdays.  

Don’t get me wrong; I’m not down on them in any way.  I certainly have no issue with getting a year older; I actually kinda like that. :-).

I just don’t need to take a day off or go shopping or eat cake.  It’s just not my thing.

However, being someone who is into goal setting and achievement, I do like the annual check-in.  It’s also really good timing because it’s right after the first quarter so it’s another reminder to check-in on my goals for the year.

Anyway, as I was thinking about what to write about today the cliche 44 Lessons I Learned Along the Way idea came up, but, quite frankly, I don’t want to think that hard or write that much, and I’m pretty sure you don’t want to read all that.  ;-b.

So, how about just 4?

Here are 4 really important lessons I’ve learned along the way:

  1. You have to put on your own oxygen mask first.  While this is true on planes it’s also critical in life.
  2. You become your environment.  Also stated as you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.
  3. The things that are most important to you will show up in your calendar and your checkbook (bank/credit card statement).
  4. You get to choose…

We could go real deep on that last one.  Maybe Janell and I will do that on an upcoming episode of The Transformation Show.
